About a year after John was born, Lina's mom went back to work. A month after she started working again, she and her team of geologists were working on site near the Californian Border and the cave they were working in caved in. Oliva Kirkus-Vonhanna was the only one killed by the rocks.
After her mothers death, Lina and her father and brother moved to the city of Salem to be closer to her Aunt Maddy, Uncle Theo and cousin Riley.
Riley and Lina were extremely close and Riley was very protective of her young cousin. One day while the two girls were out walking, a man came up to them and attacked them with a knife. Riley, desperate to protect Lina, beat the man off with her skateboard. She saw another man behind him and assumed that he was another attacker. She smashed his head in too, not realizing he was a bystander coming to help them.
Riley was sent to prison for manslaughter and every month Lina, John, Richard, Aunt Maddy and Uncle Theo visit her.
In Salem, Lina met Colleen again and they began going to the same school together.
Then in the sixth grade, they were playing volleyball in gym class when someone spiked the volleyball directly into Colleens face, breaking her nose. The girl who had spiked the ball was Rose Luther, better known as Thorn. She immediately apologized and apologized and kept apologizing no matter how many times Lina and Colleen told her it was okay. To try and make it up to them, Thorn invited them over to her house to play video games. After a few rounds of games, the three girls stared to get to know each other and became nearly inseparable after.
They stayed friends all throughout middle school and into highschool where Lina met Jamie Alder. After talking and becoming friends, the two stared dating.

Bio: Lina Vonhanna was born in Grants Pass, Oregon to Olivia and Richard Vonhanna. As a child she was quiet but content. She didn't speak up much at school, instead just sitting and doing her work. When she was seven, she stared going to a summer camp in Northern Oregon, on mount hood. It was called Camp Namanu and it was here that she met her bestfriend Colleen Clay.
